If you're dealing with joint pain from arthritis or muscle surgery, you've probably heard of Voltaren. However, the active ingredient in Voltaren is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and it's no wonder that pain relief gel has become a hot-button political measure in the USA. As a member of the pharmaceutical giants GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (Teva) and Johnson & Johnson (J& J), the question is, has Voltaren been shown to be safe and effective?
The answer is a resounding no. While it is technically possible to use Voltaren gel without a prescription, the gel is not suitable for everyone. There are certain medical conditions that make the use of NSAIDs of the Voltaren gel unacceptable, such as:
As a result of these risks, patients who have used Voltaren gel in the past have not been able to use the gel for the relief of joint pain. This highlights the urgent need for new NSAID treatments to address joint pain.
If you are considering using Voltaren gel as a muscle relaxer, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional before making any changes to your treatment plan.
